Number of guest nights at Norwegian hotels, camping-sites, holiday dwellings and hotels were 28.5 millions in 2010. Germans, Danes, Swedes, Dutch and the British are the most frequent guests in Norway.


EU citizens do not require a visa. Nationals of Australia, Canada and the USA do not require a visa for stays in Norway of up to 90 days.

The main tourist attractions of Norway are the fjord-indented coastline and its mountains, the unspoiled nature of the inner parts of the country, and the cities and smaller towns.


The highest peak is Galdhøpiggen, standing at 2,469 m (8,100 ft) above mean sea level, while the lowest elevation is sea level at the coast.


Average maximum temperatures for July is around 16°C in the south (although they can be double that) and around 13°C in the north. In January, the average maximum temperature is 1°C and -3°C respectively.


The standard VAT rate in Norway is 25% (14% on food, 8% on passenger transport, cinema tickets and letting of rooms in hotels, motels and tourist cabins etc.).
